STRIVE

Pamphlet
The purpose of the Fridley-Columbia Heights Rotary STRIVE program is to motivate eligible Columbia Heights High School seniors to discover their own strengths and talents so as to increase their personal and academic achievement. Further incentives are offered through scholarships for a college education at Anoka Ramsey Community College, North Hennepin Community College and Hennepin Technical College.

STRIVE...

  • Is an opportunity for reaching goals.
  • Is for seniors wanting to improve their status and future life prospects.
  • Recognizes and rewards students who demonstrate success by their achievement in the classroom.
  • Honors students who accomplish the goals of this program.

STRIVE challenges students to improve their work, gain self-confidence and discover the satisfaction of achievement. This is a scholarship program that recognizes and rewards students in the lower range of class standing who show the greatest improvement in grades in their senior year.

STRIVE students and staff
What does STRIVE include?

Students and mentors meet once a month for about 50 minutes after school and talk about how school is going and what their plans are for the future. Meetings also include presentations on topics relevant to life after high school – college, careers, finances, etc. The goal is for students to improve their grades; scholarships are awarded to those who show the most improvement in their GPA during the first three quarters. Once enrolled, students are encouraged to improve their attendance, attitude, participation and GPA.
